Nice to meet you :)

I’m Sarah. I am a white, genderqueer, lesbian woman-ish working as a coach in California while I await my associate therapist credentials. I received my M.A. in Counseling Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies and completed my training at the Church Street Integral Counseling Center, a sliding scale clinic rooted in Gestalt and Existential therapy in the Mission district of San Francisco.

I specialize in working with queer + trans + gender expansive folks, lesbians, and people navigating religious trauma and shame. My style is relatable, funny (debatable), soft, and curious. Working through a Gestalt and liberation focused lens, it is important that you feel full agency in this relationship. I’ll invite you to explore what you want from this space. You are the expert of your experience, you are a person with a whole life! Though I am here to facilitate the deep work that happens as we sit together, I trust in your self knowing and will look to it to guide us.

Outside of the this space, I am a surfer, an amateur chef, a record collector, a reader, a runner, an ocean lover, and a reality TV binge-watcher. Social justice is an important part of my worldview and I believe this can be a space to explore how systems of power and oppression intersect with our identities. Part of that process, for me, is divesting from the authoritarian prescriptive nature of therapist licensure.

My lived experience with coming out later in life & navigating religious trauma offers me the framing to hold this space for folks walking their own versions of similar paths. I feel my feelings big and wide and I love this work so deeply. To be witness to such courage and vulnerability is an incredible gift and an honor.
